Pet Peeve #13:

Ok.  Don’t get me wrong, I love animals, I’m a big fan.  However, I love people more, and I was already getting tired of the overly dramatic ASPCA commercials with Sarah MacLachlan’s “Angel” playing, but this, this is too much.  Currently, on page five of Perez Hilton (one of my favorite sites) there is a link for Pink Paws for Life, a foundation to finding a cure for PET CANCER.  So we should just drop everything and find a cure for pet cancer, as opposed to EVERY OTHER TYPE OF CANCER?  Isn’t cancer just cancer?  Why should we be focused more on one type of cancer than on any others and why pet cancer?  If any cancer takes precedence, shouldn’t it be say pediatric cancer?   While I think most people can agree, cancer in animals AND people is terrible, it disturbs me that this organization exists in a time when children are still dying from the very same disease.  Attention should be brought to the children I forever have burned in my mind.  The children that walk through the hospital hallways of my nightmares with bald heads and pale faces.  The children who no longer have the luxury of living.
