So… while I was on facebook, I noticed a post from one of my best friend’s sisters. It was a link to a news article about an abortion doctor who was shot and killed in a church for performing late term, highly controversial abortions. George Tiller, was shot and killed in his church as he was serving as an Usher. Above the link she wrote, “I dont understand why its an outrage that he was killed when killing babies doesnt matter”. Now I have to say, I believe I am fairly tolerant of other people’s opinions… except when they are fucking ignorant. As you might have already guessed, she is fairly religious. So explain to me, how such a “religious” and self-righteous person can justify “killing” with more “killing”? Why is one type of killing better than the other? Is it because one is done in the name of God? Or is it simply because “abortion is wrong” and there is no other way to view the matter? What really bothers me about this is that some people are so ignorant that they can just say that basically, he got what was coming to him. I wonder, if these people would be able to say that to the family of this man. If they could say that to his wife as she prepares the funeral arrangements for the man that by the law’s standards, was simply doing his job. Aren’t all sins equal in the eyes of God? Aren’t we all “sinners”? What makes one person’s sins better than another’s? Why do people feel like they can speak for God and take matters into their own hands? I wonder how warped someone must become by religion to really believe that death can justify anything but hate. Hate is baggage, no matter what form it takes.
